Dr. Tanja Zinterer studied Political Science, Sociology, and Modern German Literature at the University of Augsburg. She completed her doctoral studies there in 2003, following a research stay in Ottawa, Canada, with a thesis on the topic: ‘Political Change through Policy Advice? – A Comparison of the Canadian Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples and the Independent Commission on Immigration.’ While pursuing her Ph.D., she worked as a research assistant for a commission of inquiry of the Bavarian State Parliament. Between 2003 and 2004, she worked as a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich. Since 2004, she has been affiliated with the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science, and since 2007, she has held the position of Lecturer (Lehrkraft für Besondere Aufgaben) in the field of Political Systems. In addition, she is responsible for the internship advising and supervision for the Bachelor’s program in Political Science. Her research interests include policy research, particularly in the areas of family and migration policy, policy advising, and system comparison (especially in Canada and the USA).
