The Chair of “Political Systems and European Integration” covers a broad spectrum of content in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. A particular emphasis is initially placed on questions of European integration and Europeanization. Lectures, exercises, and seminars explore both the functioning of the EU’s political system and the impact of integration on member states as well as candidates.

Moreover, teaching activities, in introductory basic courses as well as in advanced (comparative) exercises, focus on political system research. The curriculum addresses political institutions (polity), political processes (politics), and selected policy areas (policy) in various political systems. The courses center on all political levels (local, regional, national, supranational).

Additionally, the Chair provides exercises on academic work and seminars to support thesis work (Bachelor, Master, Magister, and doctoral). Finally, the Chair is also involved in the Institute’s seminars for internship supervision.
