Previously, he held the chair of “Politics and Governance in Germany and Europe” at the University of Potsdam, beginning in 2006.
Klaus H. Goetz studied Italian and political science in Tübingen, at the University of Massachusetts and at the London School of Economics (LSE). Meyer Sahling) and on the control of legislation by governments in Central Eastern Europe (together with R. Zubek). Currently, he is conducting research in the ERC funded SYNCPOL project, analysing the challenges associated with European Policy-Making with regard to how time plays a significant role in the distribution of power in Europe’s multi-level system. Prof. Goetz is also working on the ForGeRex project, researching Right-Wing extremism and racism – framing and policy making in Bavaria. Since 2000, Klaus H. Goetz has been a co-editor of the journal ‘West European Politics’ and a member of the Executive Committee of the European Consortium of Political Research (ECPR) since 2012.
